"Let the wild rumpus start,"

A favorite story in our home. I recommend this to everyone!
(check out a glance of President Obama reading the story below)

When we are reading this book we love to "Let the wild rumpus start," My little guy loves it and I think it became part of our bedtime routine for months. I knew we were reading it a lot when my two year old started to finish the last line of the book "...and it was still HOT."

I am looking for the day when he dresses in his wolf suit and "...Sails in and out of days...." into the land of imaginary friends and places.

Another favorite part of the book for us at our house "...roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws.." I really should take a picture of us or maybe a little video of him acting this part of the book.

Grandma Rosie presented this book to Lil Man for his first birthday.I have to say a new binding is due soon. I might have to put this one aside and purchase a new one.

  1. J is enjoying this one very much - he is a bit afraid of monsters so this was a great book for having him confront that fear. He liked the "sea monster" and he loves the way the room turns into a forest.

I love the illustrations of Maurice Sendak - who also illustrated one of my childhood favorites "Little Bear"

  2. We borrowed "where the wild things are" animated storytelling from netflix -which also included other books by Maurice Sendak and a few short musical books sung by Carole King. J was entranced and loved watching the book be read - which was accompanied by great music. Recommended. One thing to note: a few of the other stories are a bit bizarre - we found them silly but makes me wonder if Mr. Sendak was on hallucinogens, haha!
